How Audio Trimming Works

This tool uses the Web Audio API built into your browser to decode audio files. When you load a file, the browser converts it into raw PCM audio data, which is then visualized as a waveform. You select the portion you want to keep by dragging the blue handles, and the selected audio is encoded as a lossless WAV file for download.

Because decoding happens natively in the browser, this tool supports any format your browser can play · MP3, WAV, OGG Vorbis, M4A/AAC, FLAC, and more. The output is always a high-quality uncompressed WAV file, preserving every bit of audio detail in your selection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does it export as WAV instead of MP3?

WAV is a lossless format, meaning no audio quality is lost during export. Converting to MP3 would require an additional encoding library and would reduce quality. By exporting as WAV, you get a perfect copy of the selected audio. You can convert it to MP3 afterward using a converter if needed.

What audio formats are supported?

Any format your browser can natively decode. This typically includes MP3, WAV, OGG Vorbis, M4A (AAC), FLAC, and WebM audio. Chrome and Firefox have the broadest format support. Safari supports MP3, WAV, AAC/M4A, AIFF, and FLAC.

Is there a file size or length limit?

There is no hard limit, but very long files (over 30 minutes) may be slow to load since the entire file must be decoded in your browser's memory. For best performance, use files under 20 minutes or 100 MB.

Are my audio files uploaded?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your files never leave your device, and nothing is sent to any server.
